“An elegant, wistful and picturesque tale of two ships passing in the Tuscan sunlight.”
- Andrew O’Behir, Salon

Synopsis

This French drama, set in a small Italian village in southern Tuscany, tells the story of a meeting between one man and one woman. The man is a British author who has just finished giving a lecture at a conference. The woman, from France, owns an art gallery. Their new relationship undergoes an odd, explosive transformation over the course of a day. Even though they seemingly just met, the pair quickly plays at being a couple, each one trying to invent her or his own Tuscan love story.

Their romance ultimately illustrates the eternal misunderstanding between women and men. The film is directed by Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami and stars Juliette Binoche and British opera singer William Shimell in his first film role. Binoche won the best actress award at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival for her performance.

2011, 35mm, 106 minutes
